BIO Courier Vol. 24 No.1 (Jan - Mar 2022)
Change is the only constant in life, a quote came into mind when I part with the year 2021. It certainly is true for us here in SEAMEO BIOTROP, who has spent the entire year working tirelessly in promoting and disseminating the real values of tropical biology. Newsletter has been one of the center’s means of outreach regarding its activities, programs, and achievements. Throughout its journey, BIOTROP newsletter has undergone several changes since its first publication, and now we have decided that it’s time to give it refreshing looks and concepts to make it more elegant, eye-catching, and more appalling to our readers.
At the beginning of 2022, the Centres focuses its activities on formulating and planning the program and activities towards its 11th FYDP, several Focus group discussions are conducted to gain insights on the needs, collaboration opportunities, and resources needed to promote its save biodiversity programs.
To support the Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program by Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (MoECRT) of Indonesia, SEAMEO BIOTROP has facilitated MBKM prorgrams for the students of Agrotechnology Department, Faculty of Agriculture of the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran East Java. SEAMEO BIOTROP has also hosted internship programs for 6 students of SMKN 1 Tolikara, Papua.
We are also gladly announcing that the scientific visit program to SEAMEO BIOTROP has now reopened. We are honored to receive the visits from the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Regent of Southeast Maluku and the directors of private companies in seaweed industries. SEAMEO BIOTROP were expected to help with technology transfer on seaweed propagation by using tissue culture techniques for producing superior and sustainable seaweed seedlings.
